The Quality Manager plans and conducts activities concerned with the quality assurance of industrial processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component.
  • Serves as a Quality Systems consultant to an assigned production department.
  • Establishes and maintains system controls to insure the calibration and accuracy of inspection and testing equipment.
  • In consultation with the Department Manager and Quality System Manager, establishes process controls and inspection requirements to maintain economic control  and detect any factor that might adversely affect component or product quality.
  • Coordinates the collection and reporting of all required documentation and assists in the design of data collection.
  • Keeps abreast of the latest developments in the practical application of S.P.C. and problem solving.
  • Assists in evaluating new equipment for performance and capability before and after purchase is made; makes recommendations on purchase.
  • Assists line manufacturing and other staff department personnel in trouble shooting to identify and eliminate assignable cause sources of sporadic out of control conditions.
  • Reviews process control and inspection requirements periodically to adjust for current conditions.
  • Assists the Quality System Manager and the BMS Coordinator in verifying the accuracy and correctness of all BMS documents and assists in the interpretation of the standard in order to assure compliance to the standard.
  • Attends department meeting to report on quality issues and to keep abreast of changes to equipment and processes.
  • Consults with the Quality Systems Manager and other Quality Engineers to provide input and assistance in identifying potential problems and in designing preventative control procedures to advert them.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, preferred; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Chemical Engineering Degree (Preferred)
  • Strong project management skills
  • Capable of obtaining results by means of a standardized gated process utilizing tools including but not limited to design and/or process FMEAs, SIPOC, and MS project
  • Significant experience in a manufacturing environment is an advantage
  • Experience in continuous improvement process, BB/GB certified, would be a plus
