Cooper Tire & Rubber Co is seeking ambitious chemical engineering students to be a part of our Co-Op program with our Technical Engineering Center which is located in Findlay, Ohio.  This position requires the successful student to live in the Findlay area for the January to May 2021 term working 40 hours per week and the successful candidate will be provided a stipend to supplement the cost of housing for the term as well as a competitive hourly wage.

 

The successful candidate would be working in a team environment with a dedicated mentor to guide and develop the skills learned in school and applying in a real world environment.  The successful candidate should be able to work in a team as well as perform work on their own, relying on the other team members for guidance and advice.  The successful candidate would be expected to present findings to the team in meetings and other informal settings.

 

Job Specific Duties:

  • Facilitating a Tire and or Materials Test Program
  • Analyzing test data
  • Conducting project tire builds
  • Conduction materials lab evaluations and experiments
  • Working in conjunction with the manufacturing facility(ies) on product process improvements opportunities
  • Researching new materials and or methodologies and assisting with the development of predictive capabilities

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale) or better (consideration given to lower GPAs depending on experiences).
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Display maturity and a high level of professionalism.
  • Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Possess the ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and deal with several variables.
  • Must be a currently enrolled student majoring in Chemical or Materials engineering and having completed at least the freshman year

 

Our co-op students are given pertinent work assignments and have opportunities to work in one or more of our manufacturing facilities. We believe strongly in the learning aspect of the work assignment and pair all of our co-op students with a coach/mentor.
