Cooper Tire & Rubber Co is seeking ambitious engineering students to be a part of our Co-Op program with our Technical Engineering Center in Findlay, Ohio. Cooper Tire offers an entirely unique work experience because no matter what your title is, you’ll play a part in contributing to the development, manufacturing and marketing of some of the most innovative tire products in the world.

 

This assignment runs from June - August 2021 and requires a 40 hour work week.

 

Typical Duties for a CAE Simulation engineer assignment include:

  • Collaboration with engineering teams in the development of improved predictive finite element models.
  • Validation of simulation results through engineering analysis and physical testing.
  • Providing engineering support of Virtual Product Development initiatives through the use of 3D CAD modeling, non-linear finite element analysis, and other advanced engineering technologies.

 

Typical Duties for a CAE Software Development Engineer assignment include:

  • Collaboration with engineers to facilitate the design and development of modeling, simulation, and engineering support tools in all stages of the software development lifecycle.
  • Creating test code, tracking and solving software bugs, and automating software quality processes.
  • Participation in group brainstorming, problem solving, and code review sessions by applying the principles of object oriented programming, design patterns, and algorithmic analysis.

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale) or better (consideration given to lower GPAs depending on experiences)
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Display maturity and a high level of professionalism.
  • Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Possess the ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and deal with several variables.
  • Must be a currently enrolled student majoring in mechanical engineering (Simulation Engineer), computer engineering, software engineering, or computer science and having completed at least the freshman year

 

Our co-op students are given pertinent work assignments and have opportunities to work in one or more of our manufacturing facilities. We believe strongly in the learning aspect of the work assignment and pair all of our co-op students with a coach/mentor.
