Ethics & Compliance Specialist will assist with the development, implementation, management and continuous improvement of Cooper Tire & Rubber Company’s Ethics & Compliance program.  This includes maintaining and updating policies and procedures designed to drive ethical behavior and shape the company’s culture of ethics and integrity, building team member awareness of Ethics & Compliance concerns and expectations through training and communication initiatives, implementing and administering the Company’s compliance systems, and measuring the effectiveness of the company’s Ethics & Compliance program. In this role, you will provide support to the Legal department to implement global programs covering all areas of ethics and compliance, including anticorruption, antitrust, data management and privacy, etc. The Ethics & Compliance Specialist serves as a liaison to internal and external business partners and supports other Ethics & Compliance initiatives and work.

 

This role will also provide some general administrative and paralegal support for the legal department and may be requested to cross-train in other areas.

 

Primary Job Responsibilities include

  • Manage internal day-to-day operations of the Ethics & Compliance Program including:
    • Assist with the facilitation of ethics helpline administration, case management, tracking trends and metrics and drafting notes and memorandums when necessary.
    • Ensure that concerns reported to the company by its various disclosure channels are documented in the ethics case management system.
    • Assist in internal investigations as needed.
    • Assist with the administration of the third party due diligence platform and other compliance programs and systems; conduct training for internal stakeholders, conduct review of third party disclosures and due diligence and elevate for further review where necessary; provide guidance when appropriate and respond directly to internal customers.
  • Provide assistance with internal ethics and compliance communications, trainings and projects designed to raise awareness of ethics and compliance policies and risk areas on a global basis; responds to employee questions regarding the Ethics & Compliance program.
  • Contribute to the management and continuous enhancement of the internal Ethics & Compliance site.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on data to evaluate the effectiveness of the Ethics & Compliance program and to identify trends and gaps.
  • Build positive relationships and collaborate with various stakeholders in the business to understand their unique risks and needs, and to drive cross-functional compliance initiatives that anticipate and meet evolving business needs.
  • Track, monitor and maintain employee and Board of Directors required compliance training and disclosure/attestation forms.
  • Support medium to long-term program initiatives and projects for the Legal Department.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 4-6 years of experience in compliance, legal, employee relations, human resources, or internal audit.
  • Must have strong analytical skills, an acute attention to detail, the ability to analyze information, conduct some statistical analysis, and report on results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, presentation, project management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to creatively approach problem-solving and the development of programs and communications.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and act in a critical position of trust within the company.
  • Understanding of or familiarity with FCPA/UK Bribery Act, antitrust laws, data privacy regulations and other compliance related regulations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal day to day supervision.
  • Unquestionable ethics and integrity.
  • Proven ability to effectively interact, communicate, and collaborate with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience administering programs on other electronic platforms.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • CCEP, CCEP-I, or other recognized ethics and compliance-related certification is preferred.
  • Experience building and delivering communications and training.
  • Legal or audit experience.
  • Project management experience.
