<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">There are many attributes that go into materials development to balance the myriad of performance requirements, allowing our customers to travel through life’s journeys with confidence.  Although we encourage our materials development engineers to be creative, the Global Materials Standards Engineer will be a crucial role to help drive a standardized approach throughout our processes. 

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">We are looking for a self-starter that can collaborate with our global Materials Engineering teams to identify current best practices for materials focused processes and development and drive usage of these best practices, making our teams more effective and efficient.  In this role you will need to be a skilled influencer of culture change and must be passionate about continuous improvement.


<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Job Responsibilities:

  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Assist Global Materials Engineering leadership with the planning and development of strategy, approach and prioritization surrounding standardization of material engineering processes and documentation in order to minimize material-related complexity globally.
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Collaborate with global application teams to globalize technical policies and procedures
    • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Collaborate with global application teams to understand and document current best practices as well as updating our best practices as new knowledge is created
    • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Collaborate with global application teams to understand and document regional differences/capabilities
    • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Collaborate with Technology Development team for additional design standard knowledge development
    • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Owns the following Technical policies, including periodic reviews and auditing for global compliance.
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Collaborate with Global Materials Engineering leadership to globally standardize materials and processes
    • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Collaborate with corporate and plants to standardize plant labs – testing standards and testing equipment
    • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Collaborate with Purchasing and global materials engineering teams to plan and implement a strategy to standardize raw materials across all regions. 
    • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Collaborate with Global Materials Engineering leadership to standardize compounds globally
    • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Collaborate with Industrialization to ensure optimal manufacturability
    • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Standardize all plant mix cycles
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Support the globalization of ERP systems and work flows
    • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Globalize the raw material approved source list (ASL)
    • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">New material onboarding
    • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Alternate source material evaluations
    • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Factory raw material evaluations
    • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Standardize Material Inspection plans
    • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Standardize policy regarding critical indirect materials
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Develop and drive training in support of global materials standardization implementation and culturalization
    • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Develop the overall learning map
    • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Owns the training material for the materials engineering group, including periodic reviews of the current material and driving for new content where appropriate
    • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Collaborate with Knowledge Management group to communicate and train to standards
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Collaborate with Global Materials Engineering leadership to enforce standards
    • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Collaborate with Quality to define manufacturing control limits and drive continuous improvement of the customer and consumer experience.
    • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Conduct technical audits (Receiving, Lab, Mixing, Calendar, Extrusion)


<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Basic Qualifications:

  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry field
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Skilled at influencing and conflict resolution
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Knowledge sharing and collaborative mindset
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Able to facilitate diverse groups to an end result
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Able to communicate to all levels of the organization
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Experience in one or more Materials Engineering functions

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Preferred Qualifications:

  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Minimum 2 years of experience in multiple Materials Engineering functions or other relevant professional experience
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Green Belt certified with experience in Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodology
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Tire manufacturing experience working in materials related areas such as the mixing, extrusion, raw materials, and curing.
