The Reliability Engineer co-op for Cooper Tire will work from a corporate perspective with plant engineering and maintenance personnel to help develop, standardize, coordinate, and administer an overall maintenance program, update existing programs, add new equipment to existing programs. This position is part of a co-op rotation program with one semester being in a corporate environment, and the next semester being in the Findlay Plant.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with plant reliability engineers, cross functional corporate and plant departments, and equipment vendors  to coordinate the development of engineering solutions and effectively identify root causes and address identified areas for improvement for repetitive equipment failures, FTE technology findings, and other maintenance problems to reduce the need for maintenance while improving costs and reliability.
  • Supports the facilitation, oversight, development, coordination, and administration of the overall reliability elements of  Asset Health Assurance, Criticality Analysis, Equipment Hierarchy, RCA, Component Reliability, WEM, Predictive and Preventive maintenance procedures, Equipment Maintenance Plan support and development, Reliability Centered Design & FMEA, tech support of daily maintenance effort, technical training, parts standardization, stores management, bill of materials, operational reliability, and reliability centered lubrication.
  • Identifies potential for cost reduction through improve equipment reliability, extended parts life, reduced labor cost, and other reliability-related improvement techniques.
  • Assists in the development and standardization of a program which influences standards for new construction and equipment purchases including materials, equipment and spare parts.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Systems or Electrical)
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA or above
  • Strong MS office experience
  • Must be able to work a 40 hour work week
