The Distribution Center Manager at Texarkana is responsible for the overall management of the Texarkana Distribution Center and related facilities.  The primary objective of this position is to lead safe and efficient operations while providing expected levels of service to customers and meeting company objectives.  The facility is comprised of a main building with multiple docks and loading yards as well as “off-site” facilities periodically used based on inventory levels.  The position is also responsible for management and oversight of operations that are off-site from the main Distribution Center.

 

Job Responsibilities:

The Distribution Center Manager is accountable for leading the day-to-day operations of the Distribution Center and the implementation of strategic supply chain initiatives as required.  This position works in conjunction with Plant Management and Corporate Distribution Operations.  Responsibilities within the Distribution Center include, but are not limited to:

  • Leads all efforts to create and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Leads a team of employees to carry out all pertinent goals of the organization including: safety, quality, delivery, cost and morale.
  • Manages all aspects of inventory including product movement, storage, distribution, and inventory accuracy.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, neat, and orderly Distribution Center and related operations.
  • Maintains security of the Distribution Center and ensures control of product.
  • Monitors, analyzes and helps report on data relevant to the Distribution Center operations including support metrics and other KSI’s
  • Ensures that the Distribution Center is operating efficiently and meeting cost targets.
  • Maintains an environment where talent is developed through effective performance management, talent evaluation, and succession planning.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction measures in all aspects of operational activities, processes and transactions.
  • Reviews and monitors daily activity as it relates to overall attainment of monthly and annual shipment plans.
  • Initiates or approves the issuance of purchase orders and reviews all invoices and other costs.
  • Maintains relationships with third party vendors who supply labor, space, materials and other goods/services to support the Texarkana distribution operation and ensures that all corporate vendor requirements are met.
  • At the direction of leadership in Supply Chain, works on special projects to drive improvement in cost, efficiency and operational capabilities.
  • Communicates regularly to ensure visibility to, and understanding of, performance and operational metrics, key messages, and daily priorities.
  • Manages the relationship with unionized personnel and employees in the Distribution Center.
  • Communicates directly with customers to help resolve any problems arising from carrier or warehouse related problems.  Keeps appropriate management personnel apprised of such customer contact.
  • Assists in the preparation of annual capital budget by determining items requiring updating, repair or replacement as well as additions to buildings or equipment. 
  • Responsible for developing the annual operating budget for the department in alignment with corporate objectives.  Reviews and analyzes performance to budget monthly to ensure financial targets are being met.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is highly desired, or 10+ years of Supply Chain or manufacturing operational experience including  5+years in a management or supervisory role.
  • Experience with SAP and Warehouse Management Systems highly preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma and Project Management experience highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Must have good problem-solving or analytical skills, and be able to react quickly to unusual situations.
  • Must be organized and systematic in approach
