The Industrial Engineer Co-op will work under direction of an industrial engineer or industrial engineering manager, responsible for maintaining and developing incentive and non-incentive work standards in a union environment.

Job specific duties include:

  • Assist in the preparation of capital appropriation requests, project cost justifications, plant layout, process flow, and work station layouts
  • Assist in the implementation of lean strategies and capacity analysis
  • Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, materials, and equipment.  This includes, but is not limited to, application of work methods and time study techniques, work, and production balancing, man-machine analysis, product flow, and economic analysis
  • Help engineers make observations of production operations, record data and statistically analyze data
  • Help engineers write standard practices, elemental breakdowns, standard operating procedures, training and operation manuals
  • Help engineers design, write, and implement incentive standards.  May help engineers prepare and deliver written and oral presentations to production and management employees, customers and vendors
  • May serve as a member of the Six-Sigma, Kaizen, 5-s or other employee involvement team
  • With demonstrated competency, the co-op will be given independent assignments and projects


Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a currently enrolled student majoring in Industrial Engineering or Industrial Technology and having completed at least the freshman year.
  • Must have cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a scale of 4.0
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Display maturity and a high level of professionalism
  • Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
