The Mixing Supervisor is responsible for mixing rubber stock, the opening of crude rubber, and the conformance to specification. This person is also responsible for refiner operations and the mixing of slurry. Other job specific duties include:

  • Directly supervises production employees and control room coordinator
  • Reads the Daily Shift Reports prior to be beginning of each shift to obtain instructions and beneficial information related to the operation of the department.  Consults with the supervisor from the shift just ending to discuss work problems and areas within the operation requiring attention
  • Inspects the department at the beginning of each shift.  Determines what mixed stocks are on the inventory and establishes a priority stock schedule according to the needs of the Millroom
  • Prepares the daily work schedule.  Assigns personnel to individual work assignments as needed.  Schedules overtime as needed
  • Over inspects and observes all mixing operations for conformance to specifications.  Records data to form.  Restricts materials as required
  • Follows the mixing of experimental stocks as requested by the lab
  • Periodically checks the mixing operation to verify that the proper stock components are being used. Completes mixer check sheet, stock change verification and scale check sheet to answer quality adherence. Audits weighment scales as required
  • Reviews instructions from the Department Manager concerning work conditions, problems, and action to be taken. Gives daily report to the Department Manager
  • Inspects the safety devices on each piece of equipment to determine if they conform to safety procedures.  Obtains maintenance assistance to correct deficient areas
  • Contacts the Maintenance Department for assistance when the equipment becomes inoperative
  • Audits the time cards daily.  Reviews the cards for proper accounts, corrects time charged, and signatures.  Audits the production reports completed by the operator to verify that they are correct
  • Receives employee complaints or verbal grievances.  Meets with the union steward to discuss such grievances.  Refers major problems within this area to the Process Manager.
  • Renders minor first aid in case of accident. Prepares report in the event of employee accidents.  Investigates the cause and recommends corrective action to the Mixing Coordinator.
  • Writes the shift activity and comments of interest in the Shift Report E-Mail
  • Responsible for keeping proper communication lines open with employees for the purpose of two way communications, including group communication meetings every six weeks and safety meeting every two weeks


Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 1-3 years of supervisory experience
  • Must be able to work the rotating 2-2-3 work schedule
  • Must be available to work OT when it arises


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with a manufacturing/industrial environment
