The Chemical Engineer co-op for Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. will work under the direction of our Chemical Engineers to help facilitate the Tire & Materials Test program and analyze the test data. This role will also be responsible for conducting project tire builds, conducting materials lab evaluations and working jointly with the manufacturing staff on product or process improvement opportunities. They will also have the opportunity to research new materials and/or methodologies.


This is a Full Time Co-Op position and requires a 40 hour work week. Our co-op students are given pertinent work assignments and have opportunities to work in one or more of our manufacturing facilities. We believe strongly in the learning aspect of the work assignment and pair all of our co-op students with a coach/mentor.


Basic Qualifications & Educational Requirements:

  • Must be a currently enrolled student majoring in Chemical or Materials Engineering and having completed at least the freshman year
  • GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (Consideration will be given to lower GPAs depending on experiences)
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Display maturity and a high level of professionalism
  • Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Possess the ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and deal with several variables
